Geography
When it comes to local statistics, geography can complicate things. As the interactive map below shows, the city of Geneva is surrounded by the Town of Geneva, which is surrounded by the Geneva City School District.
The district includes not only students living within the city limits, but also in the town and parts of the towns of Phelps and Seneca.
(District boundaries are marked by blue lines. Click on a district and you’ll get a pop-up window with more information.)The data can change depending on the place, so when publishing and analyzing information, we try to always tell you which geography we’re talking about. If you’re uncertain, be sure to contact us.
Zooming out a bit, Geneva can be seen to be on the fringes – midway between Rochester to the west and Syracuse to the east.
It lies on the eastern boundary of the Rochester metro area, a region that has drawn increasing attention with population shifts and declines. Major funders based in Rochester have broadened their reach to surrounding counties, including Ontario.
Geneva 2030 considers this an opportunity. Through data, community collaboration, and programs to brighten the future of Geneva and its young people, we’re helping to put Geneva on the map in new ways!
We encourage you to use data and graphics from these pages as you assess local needs, work to come up with fresh solutions, and seek funding.
