Geneva bucks national trend by improving student literacy

While federal tests indicate a widespread loss in reading skills, tests given to students across New York State show improvement in the Geneva City School District..

Students in grades 3 through 8 are tested in two areas: English and language arts, and mathematics. Geneva students lag behind statewide numbers, but at every grade level but one (sixth grade), they held their own or improved between 2022 and 2023. (Recent changes in the state tests prevent us from tracking performance patterns in earlier years.)
