Poverty in Geneva

The young are much more likely than the old to be impoverished. More than a third of Geneva’s children live below the poverty line.

The poverty rate of 18.3% in the city is significantly higher than that of Ontario County and New York State. Countywide, an estimated 10.2% of people live in poverty. Statewide, the figure is 14.3%.
