Students Outside All Summer
Aug. 2, 2024
Geneva 2030 secured grant funding this year to provide the Students Outside All Summer (SOS) program to all Geneva youth free of charge, with enrollment focused on those who need it most. A total 141 children signed up, for 363 weekly experiences.
The program, devevloped in collaboration with Moodie’s School, takes place in Coopers’ Woods behind the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus. Lunch is provided for the full-day program.
Parents have gushed over the project, offering the following feedback on our surveys:
“SOS provided my (children) the opportunity to have crucial time outside building their social and academic skills. Due to my work circumstances, they would have had to spend all of their time indoors probably watching screens if not for SOS.”
“Thank you for helping to keep my children active, healthy kids ready to take on kindergarten!”
“(My son) is having so much fun. He comes home every day and tells us about his adventures and what he has learned.”
“What you have provided for the children of Geneva, NY, and my child…has been truly astounding.”
But the most heartwarming response has come from the children themselves. When we asked, “What made this week awesome for you?” they answered. (Click on the first photo to begin seeing the full gallery.)
