Students Outside All Summer
Students Outside All Summer completed its second year of operation in August, enrolling 135 students.
The Geneva 2030 summer program provided a structured, full-day learning and enrichment experience for children in grades 1-5, operating for six weeks, from July 7 to August 15.
Developed with Moodie’s School, the Students Outside All Summer (SOS) program helps children grow both academically and socially while discovering the joy of learning in the outdoors. Rooted in social-emotional development, SOS encourages teamwork, resilience, and curiosity, while reinforcing literacy and math through hands-on experiences. Days are spent exploring Geneva’s natural spaces, building confidence through outdoor adventures, and deepening understanding of conservation and wildlife. Students paddled kayaks at the Finger Lakes Museum, explored lakes and streams at state parks, and engaged with guest educators in art, science, and ecology, making the outdoors their classroom.
One of the program’s primary goals is to improve literacy among elementary students, with trained tutors working with students one-on-one and literacy instruction and enrichment activities woven throughout the program.
