Geneva students lag in state tests

Students in grades 3 through 8 are tested annually in two areas: English and language arts (ELA) and mathematics. Data released by the state Education Department shows that GCSD proficiency in both arenas falls short of countywide and statewide performance.

The test results need to be read in context. More than two-thirds – 68% – of Geneva students are economically disadvantaged, compared with 44% countywide and 59% statewide.
