Geneva students lag in state tests

Students in grades 3 through 8 are tested annually in two areas: English and language arts (ELA) and mathematics. Data released by the state Education Department for the 2023-2024 school year shows that GCSD proficiency in both arenas falls short of countywide and statewide performance.

The test results need to be read in context. More than two-thirds – 68% – of Geneva students are economically disadvantaged, compared with 44% countywide and 59% statewide.
